“KARDING” SLIGHTLY WEAKENS AS IT CONTINUES TO MOVE WEST NORWESTWARD AWAY FROM LUZON

• Location of Center (10:00 AM):
The center of the eye of Typhoon KARDING was estimated based on all available data at 230 km West of Dagupan City, Pangasinan (16.0°N, 118.2°E)
• Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 160 km/h, and central pressure of 975 hPa
• Present Movement:
West northwestward at 30 km/h
• Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong to typhoon-force winds extend outwards up to 270 km from the center

LUZON:
The central and western portions of Pangasinan (Santa Barbara, Bayambang, Mangaldan, Dagupan City, Calasiao, San Carlos City, Basista, Urbiztondo, Mangatarem, Aguilar, Bugallon, Binmaley, Lingayen, Labrador, Sual, City of Alaminos, Bolinao, Anda, Bani, Agno, Burgos, Mabini, Dasol, Infanta, Malasiqui, Alcala, Bautista), Zambales, the western portion of Tarlac (Camiling, San Clemente, Santa Ignacia, San Jose, Mayantoc, Capas, Bamban), and the northwestern portion of Pampanga (Mabalacat City, Angeles City, Porac, Floridablanca) 

HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS

Heavy Rainfall

• Until afternoon today: Light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Zambales, Bataan, Lubang Islands, and the western portion of Pangansinan.
• Under these conditions, scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are still possible, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazard as identified in hazard maps and in localities with significant antecedent rainfall.
• Occasional to monsoon rains are still possible in the next 24 hours over the western sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas. For more information, refer to the 24-Hour Public Weather Forecast issued at 4:00 AM today and the Weather Advisory #4 issued at 11:00 AM today.

Severe Winds

Gale-force conditions remain possible within any of the areas where Wind Signal no.1 is hoisted, while strong winds (strong breeze to near gale strength) may still be experienced within any of the areas where Wind Signal No. 1 is currently in effect. 

HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS

• Under the influence of KARDING, a Marine Gale Warning remains in effect over the western seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon. For more information, refer to Gale Warning #6 issued at 5:00 AM today. 
• In the next 24 hours, the enhanced Southwest Monsoon may also bring moderate to rough seas (1.5 to 3.0 m) over the western seaboards of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. These conditions may be risky for those using small seacrafts. Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
KARDING will begin to move generally westward in the next 12 hours and will continue its westward track as it moves over the West Philippine Sea towards Vietnam. On the track forecast, it will exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility tonight. This tropical cyclone is forecast to re-intensify beginning tonight or tomorrow early morning as the typhoon moves over the West Philippine Sea.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
