Tropical Storm #LuisPH (ROKE)

“LUIS” INTENSIFIES INTO A TROPICAL STORM WHILE MOVING NORTH NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE PHILIPPINE SEA
Location of Center (10:00 PM):
The center of Tropical Storm “LUIS” was estimated based on all available data at 1,000 km East Northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon (23.4°N, 131.1°E)
Intensity:
Maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 80 km/h, and central pressure of 1000 hPa
Present Movement:
North northwestward at 25 km/h
Extent of Tropical Cyclone Winds:
Strong winds extend outwards up to 290 km from the center
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND AREAS
Tropical Storm LUIS is unlikely to directly affect the weather condition in the country within the forecast period.
HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
The tropical storm remains unlikely to bring rough seas over the coastal waters of the country which may result to risky conditions to mariners.
TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
Tropical Storm LUIS is forecast to continue moving north northwestward or northward through tomorrow morning before turning generally northeastward for the remainder of the forecast period. On the forecast track, LUIS will exit the northern limit of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) tomorrow morning. Further intensification is likely while moving over the sea east of the Ryukyu Islands.
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials. For heavy rainfall warnings, thunderstorm/rainfall advisories, and other severe weather information specific to your area, please monitor products issued by your local PAGASA Regional Services Division.
